Electric Steam Humidifier With Steam Distribution Unit
The amount of humidity required in a home depends to a certain extent on the way it is constructed. A well insulated house with vapor barriers in walls, ceilings and slabs and properly fitting storm doors and windows may require only couple of galolons of additional moisture per day to maintain the proper relative humidity. A house of same size but loosely constructed may need five times as much moisture in the same period.
If your home winds up with too much humidity, it can incease the growth rate and spread of a wide variety of molds. It will also greatly accelerate the rotting process of many woods and other structural materials.
Humidity not only affects your home itself, but also a wide variety of contents. Low humidity is the main cause of static electricity in a home. Dry skin and dry carpets are great for creating the friction required to send sparks from you fingertips into anything you touch. With all the highly sensitive electronics equipement (from stereos and tv's to computers) in homes today, static electricity can be a major threat. It doesn't take much of a spark to harm that expensive piece of electronics.
A newly developed NEP steam-distubution unit for stand-alone electric steam humidifiers offers unprecedented precise humidity control in any size room or buildeng where ventilating ductwork is not present. The steam is discharged with a quiet fan blower (available in 3 sizes) directly into the area.
In addition, in order to prevent the accumulation of condensation in air ducts, NEP has designed 2 basic configurations of steam distribution to provide the client with the most economical solution for any particular application.
Distribution manifold systems are to be used to prevent condensation in air ducts (available in 3 types of manifolds) .
1. “MULTI-STEAM”; where absorption distances are very short.
2. “S.A.M.”; where absorption distances are short.
3. “S.A.M.E.”; where duct dimensions are restricted.
The SDU Steam Distribution Unit can be used with either SK-300 or SKR electric steam humidifier. The self contained SK300 steam humidifiers produce mineral free, odourless, sterile steam without the replacement cost associated with electrode cylinders manufactured by competitors.
SK-300 Electric Humidifier has the following features:
• Capacities from 6-180lb/hr (2.7-82kg/hr) of steam
• On/Off or fully modulating with solid state relays
• BACnet interface capability

How do I wire in a new oven?
My existing oven is fitted with a cable and plug, new one needs to be hardwired. It says in the instructions for the new oven not to use cable and plug.
The socket is a dedicated one for the cooker and has it's own breaker on the distribution unit.
Can I simply remove the socket behind the oven and use a length of the correct cable to connect the oven to it? (using the correct connectors obviously).....Or do I need some kind of device with a fuse in it?
Your oven needs to be wired into a proper cooker point with 6mm twin and earth cable. If you look somwhere behind where your cooker goes you should see a point where the cooker wires in, somewhere below your cooker socket and switch.
Plug a radio into the cooker socket and switch it on.
Unplug the cooker circuit fuse (or trip the breaker) in your fuse box - the radio should now go silent, proving that the circuit is dead and there is no risk of you receiving a shock.
Unscrew the two retaining screws and remove the white plastic cover from your cooker point (the one behind where your cooker goes, not the socket that you plugged the radio into). You will see a connector in the wall with three wires going into it, this comes from your cooker socket.
Very carefully wire in the wires from your cooker to the socket, matching colours, and making sure that the earth wire (the bare one) is sheathed with earth sheathing (green and yellow striped, available from diy centres at 99p). Make sure that you don't leave any bared wire and that you carefully tighten each of the brass screws onto the wires.
Put the cover back on and tighten the screws, then make sure the cooker switch on the wall is off. Restore the fuse or breaker in your fuse box, you should hear the radio start. Switch on the cooker switch and see if any clock or display lights. If so, you have done it right and now test your cooker by making yourself something nice to eat or boil up some milk for a nice coffee!
