You should also receive a 14-30 return policy from the retailer which allows you to return it for any reason.

Don't make your purchase until you are ready to actually use it though. Some people like to

want to stress test your router to the max during your warranty period to ensure nothing is
wrong with it.

Used

If you buy the Netgear WNDR3700 used you can expect to pay anywhere from $109 to $139. Not a big savings. If you buy on eBay you may also find yourself being hit with high shipping fees as some sellers sometimes tack on extra shipping to compensate them for their time, effort and eBay selling fees. About the only recourse you have on eBay is feedback. You really want to check an eBay Sellers feedback and return policy before purchasing.

The good news is electronics don't usually "go bad" due to wear and tear like other items.

Usually it's either bad right out of the box or it will last for ever. I've purchased tons of electronics on eBay and never had a problem with most of it.

Refurbished

This is my favorite way to go. In refurbished condition Netgear WNDR3700 prices can go from anywhere from $99 to $119. A refurbished router is one that was returned to the manufacturer for whatever reason and was rebuilt, repaired, upgraded and tested to meet original factory specs. Many times if you RMA a new item you will get a refurbished model in its place. Many electronics manufacturers will sell "refurbs" directly from their site. Netgear does this mostly through 3rd party resellers. Most resellers on sites like Amazon offer a 30 day money back guarantee on your item. This is a great way to save money.

It's important to save all the documentation from your purchase and really stress test your

gear within the warranty period. I would say the odds of getting a bad piece of refurbished
gear are only slightly higher than when purchasing new.

I have been buying refurbished electronics for years, with no complaints at all. As long as it is factory refurbished, not done by a 3rd party, you should have no problems.
