Overclocking Q9550 on EP45-UD3P
I had updated my pc configuration. I bought a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard and an Intel Core 2 Q9550, 2GB Corsair DDR3 12800 and antec 500Watt power. Plus I am going to add NVIDIA 9600GT card, two hard drives and two drives. Your Q9550 should still be able to turn a 4 GHz H24, mine is stable at a PE ~ 4Ghz with 1.42v vcore of, OCCT 2.0 30 min. After cooling is another story, I was about 70 ° per core with a NHU12F. Does it is good to take a DDR3 system support for overclocking over DDR2. Otherwise the Q9450 3.8GHz clap in air cooling. The Q9550 with a coef of 8.5 should not be too hard to get there. I plan to have to same with a GPU support. The motherboard which I am using right now is capable for running my new processor but does there is a need of upgrade for overclocking support.
According to me the Q9550 processor are really not made for climbing up in fsb, I hardly had more than 460 fsb with Q9550 ES 1.35V vcore at 1.33v pcprobe which shows out warning. SuperPi crashes on the 32 MB 460 * 8.5, I shall publish this post on the basis of best I could do. I spended a lot time in this. Then temperature is acceptable at 39 ° to core 0 in idle and 55 ° Max Supported and plus the temperature of the core.
Hello, did you try with a Vcore of origin there pMC. Increase the Vcore to 1.28 for example will not damage the processor. I thought that only buying a motherboard would be good rather than buying it with processer. I only need to know that if i can put and use my Intel p4 2.93 ghz processor with ht technology in a motherboard that comes with intel core2duo and also supports dual core processors.

i assume you already have the pentium 4 with you way back right? what is the socket type of that pentium? and what is the rated front-side bus? check if its socket 775 (LGA 775) and if it has a rated FSB of 800MHz. if you pass these specs, then you can buy most boards available. but be sure to check the website of the model for CPU support. my father still uses my P4 3GHz with the specs i've mentioned with chipset 945g asus motherboard, Well, its also a bit old but it supports core 2 duos.
although its not advisable to use the single core p4 these days, its up to you. some pentium dual cores are cheap and affordable and there are also a few core 2 duos that are also affordable. the e5xxx series and the e7xxx series respectively.
