Red Ring of Death - How to Repair It
The most familiar hardware problem in recent console gaming history is Microsoft's red ring of death. This error, though caused by a variety of malfunctions, was basically a result of overheating. Within this generality, there are six factors that you must consider if you have discovered this round red omen on your Xbox 360.
First of all, the Xbox 360 uses a lead free solder, which is safer for children, but is also more brittle and can erode from heat exposure over time. When they crack, the flow of electricity becomes disrupted, resulting in the ill-fated ring.
Secondly, there is a heatsink clamp on the motherboard that can warp under heat from the CPU and GPU. The solder joints of this clamp can also break.
Third, the soldering process was performed at a lower temperature than recommended. When inadequate heat is applied to the solder joints they, of course, eventually break down, even under normal circumstances.
Fourth, the graphics chip that Microsoft designed to save millions of dollars didn't save them much as they tend to give off too much heat. Older 360 units that contain these chips will occasionally overheat.
Fifth, unfortunately Microsoft was not entirely thorough during final inspection and some of the early 360 models were not clear of foil on the heatsink. Of course, this affects the conductivity of the heatsink, causing the ring of death. Even if this was the reason for your issue, you would still have to reapply thermal compound if you removed the insignificant material.
Finally, all of these high-temperature-sensitive components themselves can malfunction simply because of the overall heat generated from the Xbox 360. Any number of these defect could cause the red ring of death, especially in combination, and especially when air flow is obstructed and cannot escape from the unit.

i have a p4 computer that I knew was broke sh said it had no video i took it home twitched out the x16 card but it looks like a agp slot will a x16 fit into a agp slot
the power light stays yellow also the cpu fan did not work i took off the heatsink there was no grease is the board dead or or what i had the same problem sorta a while back that i had fixed that did the same thing he saif the rambus was put on wrong

The power light staying yellow usually means a blown power supply. Start with that.
