Purchasing replacement batteries?
I am trying to find a replacement battery for a rather old GPS unit, and it doesn't seem to be available anymore. Not even any of the online battery outlets have the particular one that I'm looking for.
How important is the capacity (mAh) in purchasing the battery? The one I am looking for is the standard 3.7v, but a rather unusual 1900mAh. There are hundreds available with 2200mAh, or 1500mAh, but I can't find a perfect match with the correct plug. Would a slightly different rating cause issues? What if I also purchased a new car adapter to match the new battery?
What I have done in the past, is take your old battery, cut the plug
off and solder it to the new battery's wires. A slightly smaller battery
will be OK, but as you know, it will not last as long as the original one.
