How to service Motorola Two-ways-radio batteries

Is there a way of extending the life of spent 12v sealed UPS batteries?

I read somewhere that adding few drops of distilled water to each cell replaces lost water due to charging...

keep the batteries fully charged. you can use a trickle charger or a battery maintainer for this purpose, add water to each cell as needed. and store them on a piece of wood (concrete some how discharges them)
