How do I safely wire into my car battery?

So i'm building a computer for my mom's new car as an audio/video system, and it has a 250 watt Power Supply. to be safe, I'm gonna get a 400 watt inverter. The problem is, it only gives 400 watts if its wired directly to the car battery. only 180 watts in a ciggy lighter. what is the easiest way to connect directly to the car battery and hopefully run it though the ignition so it turns off when the car does? I don't know what kind of car shes gonna get yet, if that matters.

It's not a good idea to run anything thru the ignition switch as you want to. Its best to run it all directly to the battery and be sure to use an inline separate fuse and switch large enough to handle all power needed for these addons. If you added this to the power that is routed thru the ignition, it may overload the ignition switch and burn it up, at great expense.
